What’s a typical day like for you?

I am a volunteer at the surgery desk, so I spend the day greeting patients and their families, reassuring them, and keeping them updated while their loved one is in surgery.

We work with the doctors, nurses, and registrar to ensure a smooth transition after surgery, too.

What made you want to become a volunteer at Paoli?

My husband had surgery at the hospital—it was a win-win! Everyone was so kind, so deciding to give back wasn’t even an option, it was a decision I made with certainty.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Paoli?

The people! The staff in the Volunteer Office, the other volunteers, the doctors, nurses, and other staff are always so appreciative and grateful for volunteers. It’s a very good atmosphere to work in.

How does it make you feel to be able to give back to patients and the community in this way?

Personally, I love it and I always hope to be a bright spot in the day of our patients and their families.

Would you recommend volunteering at Paoli?
