Five years
What’s a typical day like for you?
I volunteer in the supply room in the basement of the hospital, so I’m unpacking and unloading medical supplies. I stock boxes and product onto the shelves, and put together orders to be delivered to the different floors of the hospital.
Sometimes, when the receiver isn’t working, I work on the receiving dock, as well.
What made you want to become a volunteer at Paoli?
My wife recommended it to me, and told me how wonderful the experience was. After having surgery at the hospital, I was so impressed by the staff and the people there that it made me want to volunteer even more.
What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Paoli?
I enjoy the work and the people. It’s a great group of people with very interesting and diverse backgrounds.
How does it make you feel to be able to give back to patients and the community in this way?
After years of working, it’s very satisfying to continue to work in some capacity as a volunteer—especially at such a wonderful hospital.
