John B. Deaver Auxiliary Annual Gala

The John B. Deaver Auxiliary annual fundraising event represents and reflects the best of Lankenau Medical Center traditions. It connects physicians, employees, other auxiliaries, sponsors, and the community to create a charming and successful evening. Since its inception in 1934, the goal of fundraising efforts by the Deaver Auxiliary has remained true to the mission, vision and values promoting philanthropy through volunteerism. The funds raised at this event benefit Lankenau Medical Center initiatives focusing on programs and services which enhance patient care and/or research projects at the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR).

Spring Fair

Each spring, many crafters participate in the two-day fair held in early May. Many volunteers are required to play an active role in this major fundraiser. For several years, departments in the Medical Center have graciously organized and donated theme baskets to be raffled. There is always friendly competition and great anticipation regarding the finished product. An hour or so of your time to sell spring plants during the fair and/or to sell Raffle tickets in the days leading up to the fair would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Vendor Sales

Throughout the year, a variety of vendors host a sale of attractive items while promoting their businesses. These sales are held in a mutually agreeable location promoted in advance of the day. A percentage of each purchase is contributed to the Women’s Board and becomes a “gift to Lankenau” through the Women’s Board annual Allocation of Funds program for patient experiences, departmental grants, and research projects.

Golf Invitational

The annual Golf Invitational is a tradition of three decades. This event entertains approximately 120 golfers with a buffet lunch, a round of 18 holes of golf, followed by cocktails and a delicious dinner. Corporations sponsor many participants which contributes to the success of this fund-raising event. If you are a golfer, gather your friends together and make a foursome. If you are not a golfer, volunteer as a hostess and/or make it a lovely evening out by joining the group for cocktails and a memorable dinner.

Tree of Life

A large evergreen tree on the grounds of Lankenau Medical Center is decorated with hundreds of lights and illuminated from early December to early January for the community to enjoy. Each light represents a gift from a donor to honor or remember a loved one, to express appreciation for someone, or to celebrate a special occasion. The lighting ceremony takes place on the Monday after Thanksgiving. All donors are encouraged to attend this magical moment. In addition to the lighted tree, a corresponding tree decorated with Moravian stars is placed in the main lobby of the hospital as well as in the lobby of the Heart Pavilion and the breezeway near the Parking Lot B entrance. Memorials are listed identifying donors and those honored or remembered.

Holiday Fair

Many crafters participate in this two-day fair held on the first Thursday and Friday after Thanksgiving. Community members have often patronized this well-known shopping extravaganza. There are many opportunities for participation. Volunteers play an active role in this delightful fundraising event. These include helping with the white elephant tables by donating, pricing, and selling items as well as setting up and cleaning up; donations of homemade baked goods; and assistance with selling. Solicitations for donations of Raffle prizes in coordination with the Raffle Chairpersons and selling Raffle tickets in the days leading up to the fair help tremendously.
