One hundredth anniversary of historic partnership

2019 marks 100 years since the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair selected Bryn Mawr Hospital to be its sole beneficiary. Devon’s support of the hospital, with gifts totaling more than $18 million over the last century, is a constant source of inspiration for both organizations. Hundreds of Bryn Mawr Hospital employees regularly volunteer at Devon—including Bryn Mawr Hospital President Andi Gilbert, who can be found at the Hot Dog Stand each year! Devon’s own volunteers are proud that their organization continues to support the hospital, and in doing so they help in conserving the health and wellbeing of their community.

From cataracts to cancer and medical equipment to elevators, proceeds from the annual Devon Horse Show & Country Fair have touched almost every patient program and service offered by Bryn Mawr Hospital. That legacy continues in historic fashion with Devon’s generous new pledge of $2 million that will directly benefit our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. As we look ahead to the emerging community needs and hospital priorities, we proudly celebrate the past 100 years of our philanthropic alliance with the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair.

Bryn Mawr Hospital celebrates a special group of donors

On April 25, 2019, a uniquely dedicated group of Bryn Mawr Hospital donors came together to hear a hospital update as well as learn about Bryn Mawr’s recent advancements. This special event was held to thank members of our Legacy Society and 1893 Society for their ongoing, and future, support of the hospital. The fun and informative gathering took place at The Merion Cricket Club and featured presentations by Bryn Mawr Hospital Chief of Surgery, David Rose, MD, and Orthopedic Surgeon Eric Levicoff, MD.

Bryn Mawr Hospital’s Legacy Society recognizes individuals who have included the hospital in their long-term financial and estate plans. This can take the form of a bequest, a life-income gift, or through another form of deferred gift. To learn more about the Legacy Society please visit our Planned Giving page.

The 1893 Society celebrates those individuals who have provided continued and dedicated support in the form of an annual gift to Bryn Mawr Hospital for 20 consecutive years or more. The hospital is fortunate to partner with loyal donors like these who believe in our mission of advanced, compassionate health care.

New Patient Pavilion focuses on patient experience

Earlier this year Bryn Mawr Hospital’s new state-of-the-art Patient Pavilion opened to great acclaim and is already having a positive impact on our patients and staff. This addition to the hospital was built with the wellbeing of the entire community at its heart and will provide excellent care through every life stage. The pavilion boasts 12 state-of-the-art operating rooms and features multiple brand-new units: Labor and Delivery, Maternity, Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care. All patient rooms are private and spaciously designed with a focus on patient comfort and healing.

There was remarkable community support for this campus modernization project, with more than $32 million in charitable gifts made, making this the most successful fundraising endeavor in the hospital’s history. Even with this enormous undertaking finally complete, Bryn Mawr Hospital is always evaluating the needs of our community and will strive to evolve our clinical services to best meet these needs—now, and for generations to come.

Women’s Board of Bryn Mawr Hospital hosts best-selling author Kelly Corrigan

Friends and members of the Women’s Board of Bryn Mawr Hospital gathered together on June 5, 2019 in support of Bryn Mawr Hospital at Terrain at Devon Yard. With more than 100 guests in attendance, this informative and entertaining afternoon featured several speakers including best-selling author, and Radnor native, Kelly Corrigan. The theme of balance was carried through all aspects of the luncheon, culminating in a lively panel, led by Ms. Corrigan, that included Andi Gilbert, president of Bryn Mawr Hospital; Liz Bland, program manager of Main Line Health’s Women’s Emotional Wellness Center (WEWC); and Dr. Daphne Goldberg, director of the Dee Adams Center for Integrative and Regenerative Medicine (CIRM).

Employee Giving Campaign 2019

For staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and throughout Main Line Health, the arrival of spring is marked by our annual Employee Giving Campaign. For more than 20 years, thousands of staff across our health care system have chosen to give back, and the Bryn Mawr Hospital team is no exception. Being on the “front lines” gives our employees a unique insight in to the areas that could use extra support. Their donations help fund patient programs, purchase new equipment, improve facilities and support other critical areas of need throughout the hospital.

The 2019 Employee Giving Campaign has concluded and across every Main Line Health campus our employees contributed more than $430,000. Of that overall system total, our Bryn Mawr Hospital family donated $105,000 back to the hospital! Hundreds of employees contributed to many different funds, including Nursing Excellence, Patient Experience, LGBTQ Inclusive Care, Community Health & Equity, and many more. Ultimately, the generosity of our employees is simply another way they demonstrate their compassion and empathy. All funds raised during Employee Giving directly benefit the patients and families we serve every day.
