Breast health guidance and support for all women
Breast cancer nurse navigators provide individualized guidance and support to patients, families and caregivers throughout your treatment, from screening through survivorship. A nurse navigator is a registered nurse who acts as a liaison between you and your health care providers.
Ways nurse navigators can help:
- Assist with coordination of your care
- Explain treatment plans
- Answer questions about clinical care including testing, pathology and medications
- Provide education and assist with preparing for surgery
Your nurse navigator can help you access resources such as:
- Educational materials about breast cancer and survivorship
- Postsurgical needs such as bra clinics, garment purchases and wigs
- Integrative care such as massage, acupuncture, reiki, yoga and nutrition
Navigators can provide support when you need:
- Answers to questions about chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone blockers
- Information and referral to genetic counseling
- Referral to social services for financial aid and emotional support
We also work closely with oncology social workers who can assist with:
- Addressing logistical issues, such as transportation needs
- Assisting with financial concerns
- Providing emotional support
- Connecting you with Main Line Health support groups, nutritional counseling and survivorship seminars
- Referrals for individual or family therapy
Your breast cancer nurse navigator will follow up with you at regular intervals before, during and after treatment, and will provide you and your primary care physician with a survivorship plan.
Our breast cancer nurse navigators are ready to answer your questions.
