At Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, we’re just as passionate about supporting the broader community and preventing debilitating injuries as we are about helping our patients recover. Within the hospital walls, we host support groups and events to help patients and their families work through the challenges of recovery and celebrate the small victories achieved throughout their journey.
As each patient works to heal emotionally, mentally and physically, we provide the support they need off campus as well. Our active outreach includes preventive education, wellness programs and scholarships. We also work with the larger community to help people in need who are physically or cognitively challenged.
Our award-winning community programs include:
- Art Ability – showcasing and celebrating artists with disabilities
- Project SEARCH – opening the door to employment for disabled adults
Working in the community: Our approach
We advocate for issues affecting our patients and community on the local, state and national level, and create fun and informative community events to spread understanding of various conditions and promote a healthful life. Through membership and active participation, we also support the work of a broad range of local, state, and national groups. Bryn Mawr Rehab supports organizations including:
- The Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania (BIAPA)
- Rehabilitation and Community Providers Association (RCPA)
- The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
- The Delaware Valley Stroke Council (DVSC)
- The Hospital & Health system Association of Pennsylvania (HAP)
- Delaware Valley Healthcare Council of HAP
- The ALS Association
- The Multiple Sclerosis Society
- The American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA)
More ways to get involved
To aid patients who can no longer afford to continue their care with us, we have grants for qualified applicants that help them continue their therapy, follow-up care, and get needed prosthetic or assistive devices. This fund is supported through the generosity of community donors, Delaware Valley businesses, foundations, and our extended hospital family.
Bryn Mawr Rehab also offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities, as well as a shadowing program in a variety of disciplines.
Community impact
Because the Bryn Mawr Rehab community is so strong, people often continue to participate in events and programming even after they’re healed or have achieved independence. Our staff, patients, organizational partners, and volunteers make up a network of thousands, all contributing to a better quality of life for everyone, both on and off the Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital campus.
